“. . . and what they’re saying, say it isn’t so.”
It is, though. And it is so sad. Absent a major money miracle, Saturday, August 2, was ella’slast night. The Board of Directors of A Community Theatre, the non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization comprised of The Ballroom, The Theatre and ella’s Supper Club, announced that night that there seems to be no way to keep the doors open for these three floors of magic. Ironically, that night, the house was packed—with more lovers of great jazz, great food and great ambience than had been there all summer.
It would take $40,000, this week, to allow ella’s to re-open, just for the month of August. It would take a total of $125,000 by the end of the month, to allow ella’s, the Theatre and the Ballroom to stay open. At this writing, pledges and cash received this week total $4080.

The Library Lounge (which was in the process of becoming The BackStage Bar) and The Billiards Room will remain open through the month of August and all private events planned for the first and second floors will go forward as planned. Variety Pak dances, in the first floor Ballroom, will go on through the month of August, due to the generosity of an anonymous donor.
The Board of Directors and management are deeply grateful to the fine, dedicated staff members who have made the magic happen, especially those who are serving the upcoming events.
Everyone at CenterStage is grateful for the public support we have received over the five years of our existence. We are proud to have been able to provide this gift to the community, and are so sad this gift can't keep on giving.
